Winslow, WA: the center of Bainbridge Island

Winslow, WA is not a separate town. It is the center of the City of Bainbridge Island, and it is where the ferry terminal stands, at 270 Olympic Drive SE. Winslow Bainbridge and Winslow WA both point to this walkable core. The city started as the City of Winslow on 23 August 1947, and in 1991 the rest of the island joined it.

Because everything sits close to the terminal, Winslow works for a day trip without a car. If you are planning that day, see Bainbridge Island day trips from Seattle for ways to combine it with other stops.

Sailboat masts and moored boats in Eagle Harbor

Waterfront Park and Eagle Harbor

Waterfront Park covers 5.5 acres on Eagle Harbor and has a play area and access to the water. The address is 301 Shannon Drive SE, with the entrance near Brien Drive. The park is for day use only. Boats may stay overnight under their own rules, but that is not permission to camp.

The harbor gives Winslow its look, with moored boats and masts. Public access to private docks is not a given, so stay on the public paths. Cleanup work continues at the Wyckoff site in Eagle Harbor, so follow the signs if you plan to touch the water. The parks page has more on beaches and swimming.
