Best time to visit Bainbridge Island by season

What each season is good for.

Summer: July and August

The driest and warmest months of the year. The Bloedel Reserve is open Tuesday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. from 30 June, and the farmers market runs on Saturdays. This is also the season for the parks, as described on the parks page.

Late spring and early autumn

May, June and September bring far less rain than October to April and cooler highs than midsummer. Bloedel keeps longer hours from 19 May, with its autumn hours starting on 1 September.

Late autumn and winter

From November to January the rain is heaviest, and highs run between about 8 and 11 °C. The Bloedel Reserve closes earlier, at 4 p.m., from 3 November 2026. Museums are a dry alternative: the Museum of Art is open every day.

Early spring

February to April are mild but still wet, with lows between 3.2 and 6.3 °C. Bloedel's longer spring hours begin on 31 March.

Planning around the weather

The weather is one factor, and some of the island's places have their own seasons. The Bloedel Reserve has summer and winter hours. The outdoor grounds of the Japanese American Exclusion Memorial follow daylight, while the visitor center keeps its own days and hours. The farmers market runs only from April to November.

Pack layers for any month. A rain jacket is a sensible item from autumn to spring. No table can promise sun, snow or any particular day, so look at a forecast a few days ahead. The ferry page explains how to check the timetable.
