Plan your Bloedel Reserve visit
The Bloedel Reserve covers 140 acres (about 56.7 hectares) and is described as 23 landscape spaces. A loop of roughly 2 miles (3.2 km) leads through them, and the Reserve suggests you allow at least 2 hours. It is open Tuesday to Sunday and closed on Mondays.
Entry works with timed slots. Book your slot online ahead of time. Admission is sold only through the Reserve's own ticketing system, and a ticket bought from anyone else is not valid and cannot be refunded.

The Reserve recommends booking a time slot online. Tickets at the gate are possible only if there is capacity, and then with a surcharge. Do not plan on turning up by car and getting in on the day. For most visitors, the safest plan is to book a slot online a few days ahead and arrive within it.

The gardens at the Bloedel Reserve
The Reserve has several named gardens, among them the Japanese Garden, the Moss Garden, the Reflection Pool, Rhododendron Glen and the Birch Garden. The paths run between them and through woodland, so the visit is a long walk rather than a short stop.
What is in bloom depends on the week, and nobody can promise a particular plant on your date. If flowers are the main reason for your trip, look at the Reserve's own pages shortly before you go. If you have time left, the Museum of Art and Winslow sit close to the ferry terminal.

Getting to the Bloedel Reserve
The address is 7571 NE Dolphin Drive.
By car
The Reserve is about 6 miles from the Winslow ferry terminal, near State Route 305. Parking is free on the Reserve's own visitor lots. There is no street parking nearby, and you cannot use roadside spaces outside the grounds. For the crossing itself, see the Bainbridge Island ferry page.
By public transit
The island has an on-demand service, BI Ride, with an adult fare of $2. Fixed trips to the Reserve run Tuesday to Saturday in addition to the on-demand service, and Sundays have their own offer. Match the bus to your garden slot, and check the current schedule before you go. More on the getting there page.

Rules and accessibility
No pets are allowed, including in the parking lot. Assistance dogs are the exception. Picnics, drones, jogging, cycling and taking plants are not allowed. Professional photography needs permission.
There is a paved alternative route. It is about two thirds to three quarters of a mile there and back, with a slope of up to 9 percent, so it is easier but not flat. Not every path is fully wheelchair accessible. If access matters to you, ask the Reserve before you book.
